What's a Connect Group?

At The Lakes Assembly we value building community and relationships. Connect Groups make it easy to start at The Lakes and get to know our church family and culture. Connect Groups also help us grow spiritually as we gather to discuss spiritual truths and share life together.

Check out our Connect Groups for more information or attend Growth Track to learn more about how you can get started.

Purpose

Connect Groups are a part of every ministry at The Lakes Assembly. The purpose of Connect Groups is to form groups that foster genuine relationships, build strong biblically balanced individuals and families grounded firm in their faith, and to encourage those individuals to impact the world around them by being involved in outreach.

Share Life Together

Consider the early church. It consisted of both large and small gatherings. Most often it centered around house meetings where followers of the new movement shared life together. They shared their food, knowledge, spiritual gifts, and resources. Therefore, the following four principles should be reflected in all healthy Connect Groups.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching (learn together) and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread (eat together) and to prayer (pray together). Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles (help together). All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need (help together). Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts (eat together), praising God (pray together) and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:42-47
  1. Pray Together – Quality time praying for the needs of one another
  2. Eat Together – Relationship building around food inside and outside group meetings
  3. Learn Together – Meaningful discussion around Biblical curriculum
  4. Help Together – Caring for each other, sharing group meeting responsibilities, and serving together in the community
